Landscape Architecture is more than Decoration

When the first Landscape design was created in the 1800s, the green revolution was decades away. North Americans were the first who promoted a healthier city with landscape design and a more livable neighborhood within those healthier cities. They understood this clearly, that people who are in touch with nature are healthier than the ones who aren’t.

In the mid-1900s North America was growing faster than any other nation and the cities that were busy growing up compromised with the citizen’s health. The neighbor was always choked with smog, the disease was excessive and many urban people lived in the places where nature was a far-sighted thing. These things prompted the scientists to take a decision on building and designing the city in a far healthier way.

People often think that landscape design is just to add green to the properties which otherwise would remain secluded from it. However, the landscape design does a much more work than just adding some green elements, just by building up the total infrastructure. A well-designed landscape can clean storm water by filtering it in a natural way, prevent soil erosion, encourage rainwater harvesting, strengthen groundwater recharge and offer a natural shade to the roadside animals.

Rainwater can collect the pollutants and can get stuck in the filtering mouth of the drains which will unnecessarily flood the land increasing disease and illness.
